Nice Student Flute
We have a 10 year old girl, who just started playing the flute this year in school. She go a school rental (Yamaha) and absolutely could not play it and was not motivated to play. I took it in the the shop that takes care of my son's tenor sax and found out we needed to replace three pads and have a lot of adjustments done. After the repairs, she was able to play and was more motivated, so we decided to get her a nice beginner flute for Christmas. I did a lot of research and came upon this flute, which got good reviews (especially about the company's customer service and warranty) and at a great price. I asked two band teachers and our repair guy about the flute and none had heard of it. Since Effman allows returns, my repair guys said to get it and he'd take a look at it. If it's wasn't very good, I could return it. I received the flute before Christmas and took it into the shop. My repair guys said the keys are well made, the pads are good mid level and overall, he was impressed with the quality. He also said that it was "about 2/3 adjusted out of the box, but not bad for a Chinese student flute. After a thorough inspection, he had to move the head cork, tighten the head tenon (which was a little loose) and repair a small dent in the thumb tonehole that created a leak. He did the work, completely adjusted everything. I asked if the flute was as good as most Chinese student flutes and he replied, "better, it's actually a very nice flute." Other than the dented tonehole, he said he's seldom seen any flute that didn't need some fine-tuning out of the box/ We're going to give it to our daughter for Christmas. I think she's going to be very pleased with it.
